24-Hour Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Hotline 409-832-7575 or 1-800-621-8882

We at Family Services of Southeast Texas were profoundly saddened by the unspeakable violence that occurred in Sutherland Springs on Sunday. The public is still learning about the shooter’s past but we do know that there was a history of domestic violence.  Family Services and Texas Council on Family Violence staff recently discussed the link between mass shootings and domestic violence with 12 News:

Domestic violence is prevalent in our society, and as such we must encourage intelligent and meaningful conversations regarding how to address it.  And then we must act.

For our part, Family Services Women and Children’s Shelter provides safe haven, support services, and advocacy to victims and their children.  We also provide rehabilitation opportunities for abusers through our Battering Intervention and Prevention Program, and we actively participate in the the Southeast Texas Domestic Violence Task Force.

If you would like more information about any of our services, please call (409)833-2668. If you or someone you know is in a dangerous relationship, please call our 24-hour crisis hotline at (800)621-8882 or (409)832-7575.
