If you’ve ever been to Family Services Women and Children’s Shelter, you know that it is housed in a 60-year-old former nursing home complex. By its very nature, it is just very institutional looking. As social workers, we recognize that comfort is very important to the healing process, so we set about gathering the support we needed to transform the room into a beautiful and soothing living space. By the grace of our 2016 board president, Dohn LaBiche, and very generous grants and donations, we were able to make this goal a reality earlier this year.
The Family Room Remodel at the Shelter was made possible with help from the following:
- United Way of Mid & South Jefferson County
- LaBiche Architectural Group
- H.E. & Kate Dishman Charitable Trust
- H.H. & Edna Houseman Charitable Trust
- CommunityBank of Texas
- Foundation for Southeast Texas
- Beaumont Rotary Club
- Summer Lydick
- Associated Mechanical Services
- Howell Furniture
